(UDESC - 2016/1) WORLDS BEST 10 CITIES For globetrotting travelers, its easy to recognize a spectacular city. They are energetic, diverse destinations intent on preserving local heritage, revitalizing undervalued neighborhoods, and they possess distinct personalities that set them apart from other metropolises. Whether its the city youve called home for years or one you only just stumbled upon during your travels, you know that the best cities are intriguing cultural centers that cant be replicated anywhere else. Kyoto, in Japan, returned for the second year in a row to the No. 1 spot on our Worlds Best list. Readers called it the quintessential Japanese experience, offering visitors everything from history (in the form of spiritual shrines) to notable cuisine (shojin ryori) and encounters with the famed Geisha dancers. Some of the worlds best cities evoke the romanticism of travel, such as Italys classic crowd-pleasers, Florence and Rome. Both have appeared on the Top 10 Overall list for ten consecutive years. Perhaps most evident, however, are the cities that appeared on the list despite political and social turmoil. Charleston, South Carolinathe only domestic city on the overall listhas suffered greatly since the polls closed. And Jerusalem, the controversial capital of Israel, is at the crux of an ancient and ongoing conflict. Bangkok was likely bumped from the list in 2012 due to governmental unrest. Because cities are, in many ways, a great convergence of people and ideas, it is inevitable that conflicts will arise. So we keep these cities, and their people, in our thoughts, while we celebrate their resilience and their virtues. Where did your favorite city rank, and which ones should you put on your travel bucket list? These are the most dynamic, beloved cities across the globe. Britains Oxford Dictionaries said the rapid-fire gyrations employed by U.S. pop starlet Miley Cyrus to bounce her way to the top of the charts had become 3increasingly visible in the past 12 months and would be added to its publications under the entry: Twerk, verb. Although Cyruss eye-popping moves at Mondays MTV Video Music Awards may have been many viewers first introduction to the practice, Oxford Dictionaries Katherine Connor Martin said twerking was some two decades old. There are many theories about the origin of this word, and since it arose in oral use, we may never know the answer for sure, Martin said. We think the most likely theory is that it is an alteration of work, because that word has a history of 4being used in similar ways, with dancers being encouraged to work it. The t could be a result of blending with another word such as twist or twitch. Twerk will be added to the dictionary as part of its quarterly update, 1which includes words such as selfie, the word typically used to describe pouty smartphone self-portraits, digital detox for time spent way from Facebook and Twitter, and Bitcoin, for the nationless electronic currency, 2whose gyrations have also caught the worlds eye. Oxford Dictionaries is responsible for a range of reference works, including Oxford Dictionaries Online, which focuses on modern usage, and the historically-focused Oxford English Dictionary, which probably wont be adding twerk to its venerable pages any time soon. (UDESC -2013) English as an international language About one hundred years ago many educated people 4learned and spoke French when they 5met people from other countries. Today most people speak English when they meet foreigners. It has become the new international language. There are more people who speak English as a second language than people who speak English as a first language. Why is this? There are many reasons why English has become so popular. One of them is that English has become the language of business. Another important reason is that popular American culture (like movies, music, and McDonalds) has quickly spread throughout the world. It has 6brought its language with it. Is it good that English has spread to all parts of the world so quickly? I dont know. Its important to have a language that the people of the earth have in common. Our world has become very global and we need to communicate with one another. 2On the other hand, English is a fairly complicated language to learn and it brings 3its culture with it. Do we really need that? Scientists have already 7tried to create an artificial language that isnt too difficult anddoesnt include any one groups culture. It is called Esperanto. But it hasnt become popular. But maybe the popularity of English wont last that long either. Who knows? There are more people in the world 1who speak Chinese than any other language. Maybe someday Chinese will be the new international language. www.5minuteenglish.com Accessed on June 19th The infinitive of the verbs: learned (ref. 4), met (ref. 5), brought (ref. 6), tried (ref. 7), is consecutively:

The light emitted from this exploding star will be so bright that it will appear for a few weeks at the end of 2012 as a second sun in the sky. There may be little if no period of darkness or night according to senior lecturer of physics at the University of Southern Queensland, Brad Carter. Earth will experience brightness for a brief period of time for a couple of weeks and then over the coming months it begins to fade and then eventually it will be very hard to see at all, explained the Australian scientist Brad Carter to news.com.au. Scientist6have known about this dying star which is 640 light years away from Earth, since 2005. It is believed that as Betelgeuse goes supernova it will not be harmful to Earth. There will be neutrinos emitted during the supernova process, said University of Minnesota physics professor Priscilla Cushman, but neutrinos, even lots and lots of them, are only weakly interacting, so they wont affect life on earth, but that is only speculation at this point. The fact is, we as human beings have never experienced anything like this before so close to our home planet, and to be honest, we just dont know for sure what this event could bring. (UDESC - 2012) How do I get paid? All money generated by click troughs or customers signing on with a program are fed into a database on the affiliated advertisers site and tallied automatically (1). The affiliated advertiser transfers, wires, mails the any money earned once an amount of $50 or more has been collected. I only want certain types of ads on my site With most affiliate advertisers you can determine exactly what kinds of ads appear on your site. The upside is you have more control, the down side is it is more labor intensive managing the ads. When an ad is automatically generated, as is the case with Google AdSence, the nature of the ad depends on the content of your page 1where (2) the ad is located. This means you have little or no control over the contents of the ads other than the content of your web page. It must (3) be hard to put the ads or banners up on the site In most cases it is a matter of cutting (4) the advertising code from the affiliated advertisers site and paste into (5) your web page.
