Segundo a filósofa Carolina Araújo, o clássico se mantém de dois modos: como a referência acadêmica essencial à formação, e como a reinvenção do passado que supõe essa referência e amplia-a, introduzindo o novo. Coexistem, no clássico, portanto, o passado e o presente.
