(UECE - 1999)

Many students 5realize that it is a privilege to attend university but a few think that university is a place for recreation. It is 1true that most campuses have many fine recreation facilities, but students who 6spend all their time watching TV or playing ping-pong or going to dances 2soon find out that their work is not satisfactory. The are usually told that it must improve or they must 7leave school.

Most freshmen don't 8know how to plan their time when they first enter university. They are impressed with the large number of social activities listed in the university newspaper and the result is that they want to attend all of them. The 3older students try to warn them of the difficulties that will result, 4but they seldom believe what other people say. Later they regret what happens and they wish that they had taken the advice of the older students.
How a person budgets his time is very important. Whoever wants to succeed should plan his time carefully and stick to his plan. He should allow time for play as well as for work, but not too much.
